What is EEPROM?
The EEPROM is a non-volatile memory chip that can be erased and reprogrammed. It can also be used to store data sequences that regulate the operation of microcontrollers and to offer a method of recovering from power-on reset conditions.

If the EEPROM is in the “0” state, it has no value. When the EEPROM state is “1” it has a value of 1. Between these two states, no data is stored, however it is still possible to write. EEPROMs are erased with an extremely short amount of voltage applied to the gate.
The advantage of the EEPROM is that it can be erased and written to without any external circuitry. This makes EEPROMs very useful for systems which require frequent memory updates like remote keyless systems microcontrollers. However there are different types of memory chips that provide similar functionality and are better suited for long-term storage and retrieval of large files.
Modern flash memory chips are a common feature in computers and digital cameras. These are used to store multimedia files for long-term storage and retrieval. Despite this, they are not true EEPROMs and their fundamental functions differ from the ones of true EEPROMs. EEPROMs are still extensively used, but because of their versatility and ability to store a minimal amount of data in a tiny space.
What is OBDII?

The CAS system communicates with vehicle’s engine and other systems using the BMW ICOM VCDS. The VCDS connects to the CAS via a special cable that has a DIN connector at the end. The VCDS can perform a number of functions, such as showing error codes or altering the timing of the ignition. It also offers a variety of security features to protect the vehicle from theft.
BMW automobiles are equipped with the CAS key module addition to the ICOM VCDS. The CAS module doesn’t require batteries and is powered by the ignition coil. A transponder chip is embedded in the key to transmit the signal that is coded to the CAS module. This signal is sent through loop antenna (coil) at the ignition lock.
The CAS state logic is implemented by the CasSystem class. You must create one instance of this class on every device that requires information from CAS. It does this by publishing a ca_activate_alert subject that requires event data as an object that has key and priority properties. It will also subscribe to the cas_master_warning_active and cas_master_caution_active topics to consume their statuses.
How do you program a BMW Key

This keyless entry system only activated after the key fob has been programmed to the car. To do this, you’ll have to follow a few simple steps.
The process is slightly different depending on whether you’re pairing a brand new BMW key fob with an existing BMW, or starting from scratch with no working bmw Key 1 series key. The first step is to get the working key fob and the ones you want to program inside your car, ensuring all doors and windows are shut. Insert the working key into the ignition, turning it to one position, then back rapidly five times (do not start the engine). Remove the key by turning it backwards.
Hold the unlock button while pressing the lock button (the BMW Logo) three times in a row. Then, release the unlock button and the door locks should lock and unlock automatically. Repeat this procedure for each additional key fob.
Connecting your smartphone to your car using Bluetooth is the last step. Log in to the BMW Connected application. From there, tap the bmw key cost Digital Key setup button. This will activate the key on your smartphone and allow you to use it with the Digital Wallet app.
